UPCOMING (AND PAST) EVENTS

Adams Hill Area Upcoming Events: MAY 2008

4TH ANNUAL GARAGE SALE - Saturday, May 10, starting at 8 a.m.

It is time for spring cleaning! AHHA is sponsoring its fourth annual garage sale on Saturday, May 10, 2008, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

This is when we revisit all the accumulated junk in our garages and try to make sense of it, condense it, and get rid of it. Recently in the March 20 LA Times Home section, an article discussed the mountain of stuff we store in our garages. The story quoted a study reporting that almost 75% of us no longer use the garage for our cars! The result is too many cars on the street and blocked sight lines for cars pulling out of driveways which create flared tempers. It also leads to theft and vandalism.

Professional garage organizer Barry Izsak, whose firm charges $1,000 a day to help people reclaim their garages for cars, says “It’s irrational. You have a $50,000 car on the street and junk worth at the most $1,000 cramming the garage.

Sign up early so you can be placed on the map showing all homes in Adams Hill that will be having a garage sale. Make a party out of it with your neighbors and have some fun! AHHA will be paying for all of the advertising, maps, and will place signs to direct traffic to our garage sale.

Email Mary at baldwin-m@sbcglobal.net or call her at (818) 246-5415 to get added to the map or for more information. [Top of Page]
