Terry
Lavell greets us at the front of her lovely tudor home and then starts
zipping around her garden. |

She
is enthusiastic about both her home and her garden...it's an appealing
tumble of a garden in which she spends many hours and much thought
on the color and type of plants she invites in. |

Terry's
favorite plants are "anything that grows", and she is quick
to point out that she has over four dozen rose bushes and she makes
good use of mini roses (from Trader Joe's) as a border plant. She
uses landscape roses with bacopa for ground control. |

She
does most of the gardening and is always on the lookout for a great
garden color. She is currently experimenting with clematis.

Terry
is an animal friendly gardener and will not use any poisons or harmful
substances. Her gardening hint for killing weeds is to use lemon juice
"the cheap bottled kind" and vinegar. She says that it works
fast...sometimes the same day. A racoon-proof fountain is her next
project. |

Terry
had no overall plan for her garden, it just evolved. In the backyard,
the shrimp plant Justica brandegeana (left) adds an explosion
of color and texture. The calla lilies, Zantedeschi aethiopica(right)
were original with the house. |
